Got a new camera, so this won't get used any more. Canon G12 with an 8GB SD card. It's in excellent condition and only shows light wear. There is a little dust buildup in the physical view finder, but the rotating/tilting LCD screen is much more useful and I found that the viewfinder was never used. This is a great compact camera with all the manual controls you'd want from your DSLR - except it fits easily into a HPG kit bag or small pouch.

It will come with a brand new Ritz camera bag, a Polaroid 5-piece camera cleaning kit, and a 12" flexible tripod. I have all of the original boxing, paperwork, software disc, cables, and an unfilled warranty card.

asking $225 SOLD shipped CONUS, payable via PayPal

If anyone is wondering, this is a SUPERB camera. I have the exact same and just used it on a major month-long Alaska adventure. I have newer cameras but they don't take better images than my G12. My son-in-law does semi-pro photography and tells me the G12 is a favorite backup for DSLR users. Someone is going to get a great camera here....

I'm looking into these now, but the G-16. I know nada about photography, but after this year of archery hunting, I'm thinking of taking up shooting wildlife. But I may need a bigger lense!! Ha! So how does this compare with the newer version?

Honestly, I don't know how it compares to the newer version. I am certain that the newer version will have a higher megapixel count, and shoot higher resolution video.

I went to a Micro Four Thirds camera system so that I could get interchangeable lenses.

If you're wanting to shoot (pictures of) wildlife though, the G-series isn't really the right choice for you (or any compact camera system). You won't be able to get enough zoom out of any compact to get good pictures, and digital zoom is horrendous.

No problem. There's nothing worse than buying something and then realizing after the fact that there is no way it will work for your needs...

This was shot with a 400mm lens on a Canon EOS-30D at maybe 40 yards away (and I still didn't fill the frame as much as I wanted to):

The Canon G-series has something like a 28-140mm range.

Looks like the biggest differences between the G16 and this G12 are 2 more megapixels, faster autofocus and burst shooting speed (for jpg, RAW burst speed is the same), but the G12 has a screen that can pop out and rotate, vs the fixed screen on the G16.
