For those that have hunted in Newfoundland, what do you estimate are the most common shooting positions. Plan to bring a short bi pod on the rifle, trekking poles, and probably shooting sticks/field pod.

I wouldn't imagine prone shots are likely? Sitting, kneeling, standing?

Are the trees tall enough to lean against when using bipod while standing?

I have hunted Newfoundland a few times mostly moose but two caribou as well. I haven't shot from the ground yet, mostly a bipod shooting sticks either kneeling or standing. I did shoot one sitting unsupported (except for my knee) and one off hand. This year I will bring a tripod for the first time. I have done a fair amount of practice shooting off the tripod kneeling and standing.

I think I took a rest off the ATV fender when I killed a bull moose there in 2012. Earlier in the hunt, I passed on a small bull while resting elbows on knees. If i were going again, I'd take a Javelin Springbok and call it day. That's a versatile bipod for everything from prone to kneeling positions.
