I am going to put in my order to Kifaru. I am in Ontario, Canada. Wondering if I should ship to my address or use one of those US border mailboxes. My order is coming at around $1000 US + $66 shipping. Ontario tax is 13% which I would probably have to pay either way. Not sure if there would be any other fees for duties etc. Anyone here ship a sizable order to Canada recently?

Should be fine to ship right to you. There will be a small handling fee to pay with the taxes. The only thing that ever really killed me was ordering from KUIU, I got hit with 33% tax and fees at my door. I sent most of the items back then recovered the fees from the government. My one kifaru order was not like the though.

I ordered a pack and frame ($700 US) and had to pay $45.00 tax.
That seems about right.
$700 US = $910 CAD
Alberta tax is 5% which works out to around $45.

My order is:
$1000 US = $1300 CAD
Ontario tax is 13% which works out to $170 which is a significant chunk of change.

canadian borders based their charges from the price marked on the box...if it say 1000$...poor you haha!
I am from the worst place in Canada so its mean QUEBEC lol and fed and Prov taxes are 14.5% and each time i am ordering from Kifaru i paid, they dont miss a chance believe me plus the usa-cad money exchange, our dollard is poor,if you have the money its cool but its sometimes its so deal breaker.

yeah you got it!
My question is: for products made in USA...where is the free exchange policy??...
Its suppose to be low charges not full charges on usa made products.

You shouldn't have to pay duty if it's made in the USA but you'll still have to pay the Canadian tax on it.

Free trade agreements apply to duty rates, not to tax rates such as GST/PST/HST where applicable.
