So I kinda wanted Alaska moose but getting a partner doesn't seem like an option and guides are really pricey, so thinking about Alberta for moose. Would like an opportunity at a 50 ish and budget around 10k ish. Anyone have any experience with any Alberta guides or Canadian expenses by some chance?

I suppose they are there but 50 is a big moose. My daughter shot 42 this year and it was the only bull we saw.Nice weather just not nice hunting weather.Might look at some of the BC hunts.I also don't think a guy could do a Alberta hunt for that.Maybe if he drove. It was 800.00 to bring all our stuff back and 250.00 for the coolers let alone motels and rentals

I’m sure you can find a hunt for your budget but wanting a 50” moose in Alberta would be a very big ask, and most likely set you up for disappointment. I would think the further North and west the better.

I bow hunted a couple years ago with Wayne Zafts for less than your budget. I did drive there. Killed a 38.5” bull and was happy with it.

50” is more of an Alaskan/Yukon moose, not usually the Canadian moose, but you could always get lucky.

In my many moose hunts I have observed that they are generally a low density animals and takes patience. Passing a legal animal especially on a time limited hunt is a good way to go home empty handed.

I think you can find a 50” moose or close to it in Alberta. I’m booked with misty river outfitters. They do river hunts and have a fly in hunt where there are chances at the bigger bulls due to limited hunting pressure. The fly in is 11.5k. I think most of the hunts where you are going to have an opportunity at a bigger moose are most likely going to be 11k. I know moose creek outfitters puts out 50” bulls every year.

I'm good with 11, I'm just trying not to pay Alaska money

A 50" Canadian is a huge moose. They are out there, but you had better be ok with eating your tag if you plan to hold out for one that big. 40"-45" is a good, mature bull in Alberta.

I hunted with Misty River out of Fort Mcmurray three years ago. They have a fly-in lodge hunt in a remote area with low pressure. They manage their area for age class. They have either taken or seen a few that big, but they are rare. Most of the bulls that get killed are in that 40-45 range. Bowen Lake Outfitters is active on Rokslide, and they also kill some big bulls in remote areas in Alberta.

If I was dead set on 50" in your price range, I would go to Alaska DIY. If you need to go guided in Alberta since you can't find a hunting partner for AK, just adjust your trophy expectations down a bit and go have fun.

We hunted AB last year, 3 hunters. 50” there is rare. 40” is big. 7k cost booked in 2024. He has raised it to 9.5k now and may be full for 26, does have spots in 27. About 66% success most years. Last year was a tough year, very dry. 3 hunters. One missed a shot he should have made, one did not have an opportunity, one got a nice 40” moose.

I’ll pm you details if you like. Good outfitter and guides.
