Can you reccomend a Sitka system for early season?

Man I'm a bit overwhelmed with the options for Sitka Gear and was hoping you guys could let me know what works best for you.

I've already made the decision this is the gear I'll be using on a Colorado elk hunt the first week of September and would appreciate recommendations on exactly what "system" works best for the various weather that is to be expected.

I've got first lite merino wool long underwear and a filson wool vest and that's it so far. My camp is at 10,000 ft and I'll be heading up to 11,200 max.

I'm also hunting elk in Montana the first week for rifle season, so the ability to use some or all of this gear then would be great as well.

Thanks again!

I have ascent pants, core long sleeve, Traverse long sleeve, and 90% jacket. Just bought a Kratos puffy for WY antelope in Oct. If funds allow, maybe the next step up in pants for mid to late Oct snow. Not sure what they call them.

Bob--Mountain Pants. Next step up from them is Timberline with the waterproof knees and seat. Both are great
late season pants. Have spent 21 days the last two Decembers hunting mountain lion in them.

Heres a better idea... save money, invest in kuiu or first lite. Sitka is over priced and over rated.. Wore the stuff religiously for 4 years and spent alot of hard earned money on it and was never all that impressed with its performance for its price. Switched to kuiu predominately with a few pieces of first lite and have been nothing short of happy and impressed. Saved a good chunk of money to boot as if I would of went with sitka...

I'd say the mountain pants, I like the Jetstream vest, traverse hoodie and Ascent jacket. You already have your firstlite so this will let you layer nicely. I like the mountain pants better than the ascent because of the removable knee pads and more durable material.

I agree on the mountain pants. The only piece of Sitka that I own and they are great. I wear them early season bowhunting. They will fit the bill for both early and late.

Mountain Pants, Merino Core Zip, Traverse Hoody, Kelvin Vest, Kelvin Light Jacket and Jetstream Jacket. Have mixed and matched this system for the last couple years and it is versatile and effective.

Another vote for Mountain Pants. I also have the Traverse Zip T, great piece that layers nicely over a wool 1/4 zip shirt. I also have a Celsius Vest and Jetstream Jacket. For later season hunts I carry a North Face primaloft puffy. The Mountain Pants are very versatile and can layer up well with heavier wool long johns. I wore mine last November in -10 temps.

Good gear, shop around and watch for sales. Check Black Ovis or Mountain Archery.

Traverse is one great all around piece. Awesome layer.

Ascent or mtn pant are a close second.

I also like the Sitka merino, though it is pricy if your paying full price. I prefer the cut of it to the other companies iv tried.

When I wore sitka my favorite early season combination was; Timberline pants, traverse zip t, 90 % jacket and a kelvin jacket in my pack.

I use these items with lots of success.

Merino base layers
Mountain pants
Traverse zip T
Jetstream Jacket
Kelvin Lite vest on board if needed

For early season I use merino base layers, Ascent or Mountain pants, Ascent jacket, Jetstream Lite vest and a dridown puffy. I've used the Traverse zip-t in the past, but I feel that the Ascent jacket is more abrasion proof.

Timberline Pants, Core Long Sleeve, Traverse Zip T, Kevin Light Jacket, Jetstream Jacket, Dewpoint Rain Gear. I match that with other base layers if needed.
