Can you make a living as a taxidermist?

The trade can be very hard on the body.
Have known several taxi's with health issues--everything from lung problems to skin lesions. The trade is inherently unhealthy without diligence given to fresh air supply/proper ventilation, respiratory mask wearing, etc.

Our local tanner succumbed to cancer a few years ago, he was great at his trade and relatively young, but his studio always reeked of chemicals and carcinogenic materials.

I know a few in Illinois that were very successful at taxidermy. One had to turn work down he was so busy, he also moved his business twice to have more room. One of the main things he told me is how you treat customers so word gets around about your quality and attitude.
