Can I take a suppressor through Newark airport?

(Edited)

Gregg Levell ran into the issue 20 yrs ago and got arrested in NJ because of a missed connection and his pistol. His charges were dropped and he got back his stuff. But he lost his civil suit against NJ-His case climbed the appeal ladder but he lost at the 3rd Circuit, who recommended that he not take possession of his stuff and keep it with the airline or tell law enforcement.

In the long term, right now the ATF is proposing an updated more 2A friendly rule to help out. Its worth everybody’s time to support with comment.

Aren’t silencers super cheap in South Africa? I’ve heard of guys buying them there but hen just giving them to a guide or something on the way out.

Edit: after reading reading I see you are already in SA. Good luck!!!
They aren't as expensive as they are here, but were still $500 when we went to shop for some.

Thanks everyone for feedback so far. If I were solo I’d probably keep itinerary as is. However, wife is convinced I’ll be charged with felony for suppressor in Newark since we have to clear customs there and then recheck on connection back to Texas. There is option to change routing to go through Frankfurt Germany and then drirect on to Texas.

Kind of funny (and sad) that connecting through Europe (with much stricter gun laws) is safer from a legal standpoint than connecting through an airport in America.
Is Newark really America?
