Can glassing cause cataracts?

Hey everyone, there is a very clear association between UV light exposure and cataract formation (see UpToDate and pubmed for some light reading).
My question is that since my binoculars are quite literally capturing and concentrating full spectrum light and sending it straight into my eyes is there an increased risk of cataract formation with prolonged optic use?

I know that companies will market multicoatings, but cursory research has shown that these are primarily to 1. Enhance coloration and contrast, and 2. To enhance prism internal reflection.

I have not found a single example of a company stating that their product blocks UV a/b, like you will see on eyeglass marketing.

-Are my long glassing sessions doing permanent damage to my eyes?

I have been waiting to see if anybody would respond for a few days on this... this post has really peaked my interest.
Living in the eastern US I don’t sit behind tripod mounted binos or spotting scopes all day like western hunters, but I would imagine that this would be on the forefront of people’s mind for those who do glass quite a bit out west.

Somebody has to know or have some insight into this...

Yeah I was surprised this thread didn’t pick up steam. I ended up posting it over in the general forum where some very educated people have chimed in.

It is not technically correct to say that binoculars are capturing and concentrating light, they are actually reducing the amount of light reaching your eye. Also the glass is nearly opaque to almost all UV light, and certainly the more harmful UVB.
