Does the mattress get hard in freezing temperatures?
I did notice it was pretty firm in single digits with no heater, but after a minute laying on it that went away and it softened up. It's not fully like a memory foam as far as I can tell but must have some properties of it. I will say that it doesn't roll up small, it does take up so.e space. I allow all of us one irresponsible item on truck or boat trips, that mattress is mine.

6-inch thick cotton futon ... at home, in the back of the truck, and in a tent.
Still gotta find a cot to hold us up in the tent though.

XL bunk cots. Sleep like an absolute dream and save space. Converts to a couch if you don’t have a second person. Worth every penny. Sleep like a baby beside the wood stove

At a basecamp and in my truck I use a Milliard tri fold mattress, just throw it on the ground, in cold weather I put a couple moving blankets on the floor of my tent!

That mattress is like sleeping at home!

I just use the xxl outfitter cot and pad from Sportsman’s warehouse. Works pretty good for me but I may pick up a thicker pad after this season.
II had one, great cot. Unfortunatley mine dry rotted in the desert heat after a couple of seasons.
