I am trying to decide if the Sony rx100II is worth the extra dollars over the Sony rx100. The rx100III is out my range. Any thoughts on the benefits of one over the other?

I'm with you, the only thing holding me back on these cameras is the price. I need a point and shoot because it need to fit in my hip pouch. I just never stop and take the pack off to take a proper pic and have missed some good pictures because the camera was in the pack.

agreed, i've got the second gen and the only thing it has is a little better light gathering (not much) and the tilt LCD screen, which is useless IMO. It tilts down, and I would use it more if it titled up.

Actually just inspected my camera and found some junk in the hinge that kept it from pivoting up...still the original is my pick for the money. Pic quality is basically the same, except in low light shots.

Does anyone have opinions if the rx100III is worth the extra money over the I? From what I gather it takes a little better video, any opinions?

I would be using it mainly for digiscoping but also as general purpose camera (scenery, documenting trips, etc.)

I went with the standard, thanks again for the input all. I will be using it on a scouting trip this week and will post up some photos and thoughts for everybody.
