Looking to start self filming some of my hunts as well as my kids. Mainly will be out of a treestand or blind out east. My first thought was to get a camcorder, but some of the cell phones seem to do really well these days. What is everyone's experience with what ends up being a better fit? I'm thinking for close up archery shots from a treestand a phone would be fine, but I may want a camcorder for over the shoulder shots for my kids.

Tried a cheap camcorder. That was a mistake. Going to possibly upgrade to a Pixel 10 pro here shortly for the nicer camera and magsafe capabilities. Figured that would be a better digiscoping setup as well as decent close range archery setup on a camera arm.

Phones won't have the same depth of field or quality when viewed on nice screens, not gadgets...
Dedicated video recording equipment like a camcorder, GoPro etc will give much better results.
Though might depend on your media skills too with what you aim to produce, just watch it raw with the family or edit with cool stuff and anything is possible...
