Someone on here implied his hunts weren’t actually fair chase or public land, they didn’t specify what. I was disappointed when I heard that and hope it wasn’t true. I don’t really get all the haters and too cool crowds.
I watched a video where he said he hadn’t had to eat a tag in his last 10 elk hunts (something close to that it’s been awhile since I saw it)
That is impressive

FWIW- I respect his athleticism and perseverance and drive.

I don’t know him or follow him. I’ve never purchased any of his books or merchandise

I don’t have a Cam Hanes poster.

Not buying one...

Not interested in trying to pick him apart either.
Dude, could you imagine a poster with Hanes, Avery, and Snyder?! I'm not sure I could control myself...

Ha!! I don’t know Avery at all, so it’d be inappropriate for me to make any comments about his “Fuzzy-Wuzzy” nickname or make any kind of comparison to an Ewok.

If I knew him, I might make several cracks along those lines.

I suppose if you really like what you're doing, and don't have anything else that gets in the way, you're going to be good at it.

I don't think I could do what he does to get good at it.

He deserves everything he has and has worked his ass off to get it. The thing that rubs me the wrong way is that he gives the perspective that everyone has to do what he does in order to be a successful backpack hunter even though his best buddy Roy was a hell of a hunter whose physique was anything but the best.

He also hunts mainly private these days, as would I if I were in his shoes...don't hate the player, hate the game.

I don't have a problem with the guy and admire the fact that he holds down a regular job and does all that he does. In fact it may actually deter some posers from hunting if they follow him and actually try to do half of what he does.

It's clear that some of his hunts aren't public land whatever you want to call it hunts though. His Utah elk hunts where he gets his monster bulls are private land guided hunts, he made mention somewhere once of the name of the outfitter so there is that.

I guess what I didn’t make clear, someone made a post awhile back that made it seem as though Cam was actually fudging how he was hunting. Is that what your saying?
There is nothing wrong with hunting private land or hiring a guide, it would be weird if he was making videos saying he is on a self guided public land hunt if that weren’t the case. Somehow I doubt that the case.

Not everyone is going to like him. No one here is going to out work him. He made it to the top and from the back country to the front country by grinding. I like him a lot more than the Bowmar types.
