Haters gonna hate. Cam was hard core well before the sponsorships...and his endurance running is legit. I'm a fan...

I've met him a couple times and seems to be a real good guy. He has a real positive energy about him. The dudes training is rediculous. Anyone that can run a 100 mile race is CRAZY and he's done it more than once just to get it under 24 hrs.

I have heard people say his bulking up is suspicious. Honestly, I have done his program and it is no joke. Almost crossfit like. Put on good mass. The dude runs 10 miles a day and lifts every day hardcore. His gains are legit. Hard not to gain when you work at it that hard. Nothing but admiration.

If I were to grade that video, I would have to give him a 8-9 out of 10 on the motivation & bad ass factor, and a 2 out of 10 on wound preparation and suture technique. I personally would never carry sutures on any backpack trip, but if that floats you boat, then I would consider picking up a little more information before you hit the trail with your suture kit.

Another good option to consider for you glue guys which I think works much better, especially if you are doing a laceration repair on yourself without help, is the following: First, liberally wash the wound with filtered water instead of hydrogen peroxide and scrub it if necessary to remove all debris, because the solution to pollution is dilution. Second, place on your clean dry skin "around" (not in) the wound tincture of benzoin which comes in tiny ultralight weight crushable tubes (see below for link). Third, after tincture of benzoin dries then apply steristips or tape across the wound, pulling it together. If one wound edge is depressed then apply the tape to this side first and pull the wound edge over and up to the other wound edge while applying the tape across the remainder of the wound. The tape will stay in place this way as the benzoin binds to the skin and the tape. The more tension present on the wound, the further back from the wound you should consider placing benzoin & taping.

Now, I wish I had taken pictures of this repair process earlier this year when my son really "scoped" himself good and required a field repair...although mostly I regret taking the picture for the good laughs we could have later (he wasn't happy at the time because the deer was missed).

I don't think anyone on Rokslide hates Cameron, but we all goof around with each other (littlebuf makes fun of me, I call Ryan fat, Ryan says I'm gay for watching movies and so on), so if any of us posted that vid, we'd all be getting some of the same comments.....if not much worse:)

As far as the stitches, glue worked great on the battle field, and that looked like a glue fix to me.

What is wrong with watching movies? What kind of movies is the question. Hey, quick question Aron, can I actually stop by kifaru to have them help me adjust my D2 pack, or do they not do this. I am in Arvada frequently. Thanks.

Staples are much faster and don't hurt quite as bad as suturing. Also much easier to put in yourself.

Think I will stick with super glue and tape/butterflies because I don't think I could stitch myself. I'll admit it I'm a girl when it comes to stitches.

Look past the stitches and I see that his real point was that he was not going to change his daily routine because of a cut. Instead he stitched it up, wrapped it and did the same things he would have otherwise.

How many of us would have done the same?

That's some real motivation he has there and I have a lot of respect for that.

A bit over the top, who says he wasn't given locals before the filming started, suturing the paper cut on or near one of the hardiest parts of the body.

While not a doctor, I am pretty experienced at suturing in the back blocks, mainly on hunting dogs that have come out of a tangle with a wild boar with a few rips in them, dogs take the pain better than people, and let me say, a big boof headed pigdog doesn't just sit there and let you quietly put the sutures in.

Jmez, staples would only irritate big time where that wound was.

For some insane reason, I never get tired of seeing that video Dotman.

I find the staples work great on dogs (even though I've rarely used them on pets), because they are quick and don't require the dog to sit completely still like sutures. Those skin staplers can be very expensive though if you can't get free leftovers.

Not a Cam hater either, but why? He was in town, go to the damn doctor! Like my daddy told me long time ago, there is a difference between being tough and stupid. i would have at least got drunk first, but that's just me.
