Do cam bearings on today's modern bows simply wear out?

If so, what causes jt and how do you know when they need to be replaced?

Rarely. If they are going bad most often they'll begin to produce a buzz or rattling sound. Most manufacturers will replace them under warranty.

Ive seen a few do it.. they usually get a squeak that you cant get out.. If it isnt squeaking probably still good to go..

^^^^ what he said a rattle or buzz describes it better lol

You can pull the cam off and insert an axle through one side at a time. Then apply a little torsion to the axle and roll it. The bearing should run smooth and freely. If you feel any grinding or sticking, the bearing may need replaced. Pretty rare to need replaced, but a dryfire could damage them.
