Figured beings I am moving out of state and there are usually a few guys looking for information on here, and I like to see fellow hunters have success I wanted to give out some information for some elk hunters if they are interested.
Specifically, around the Dixie Valley elk herd.
The elk out there are pretty easy to find, especially starting around the first week of September. They tend to be in the juniper flats around the south side of the Dixie valley property off the forest service road Lit Valley El Tie (Dr 22) aka the 22 road. Best place to start is the Davis creek to Russel Dairy Spring area. This is a great area that tends to hold a lot of elk in September, and they utilize the juniper flats as the rutting ground.
Best of luck to all the elk hunters and hopefully this helps some guys out
