Hey, all! I drew an elk tag for CO 2nd Rifle. Unit is Fort Collins area (can I say the unit?). I have a pretty good start on a plan (I feel). I have been utilizing the CPW Atlas, OnX, various other sites/maps to glean info to steer my plan. I have spoken a time or two with the local District/Regional Manager for the Unit as well to help guide my decisions. I have also PM'd a few users here to inquire into suggested vehicle requirements, etc...

I am not quite ready to say this is Plan A, B, C, D, E, etc... (as it is largely weather dependent). Was wondering if a local elk hunter from that unit or with experience in that unit, would be ok reviewing my plan/map down the road and just providing some feedback. Right now, it's a bit chaotic so as I add info, patterns emerge, things begin to overlap, and so I want to clean it up a bit before sharing it.

Again, curious if anyone is interested in that sort of thing. I would prefer to do this via PM and not out in the open for obvious reasons.

* To add, I am from the East. I won't have time to get boots on the ground beforehand. I did however make a trip out there in April (for different reasons) and was able to poke around in a rental for a bit (not much use other than getting a feel for the totality of the area). I also have some friends of a friend that live out that way that will be providing me some info and hopefully get boots on the ground on my behalf near the end of summer.

As long as you didn't draw unit 9 then you have a chance of killing an elk.

The elk will be where the elk are. Like you said, the weather plays a role. It can be 85° during 2nd season and if that is the case they won't move much with the sun up.

Can't kill them from the couch. Good luck on your hunt

Not unit 9.

I appreciate it!
