California is the stupidest state

Policy matters.

CA has been controlled by one party for decades.....and it's their policy than has caused us to have the highest cost of living vs any other state. How can CA have higher gas prices than Hawaii?

Then add there is a proposal in the CA legislature to charge us $.04 a mile, raise car registration fees which are already the highest in the US and raise our property taxes....that after they insult the high net worth folks incentivizing them to leave.

How many avg working folk does it take to make up for the billions Musk [the largest single income tax payer ever] pays in taxes?

All right California, Washington says "Hold my wine glass and watch this". Our state school department of education is being investigated by the DOJ for its transgender policies. Washington, Oregon, and California are in a race to see which one can swirl down the toilet the quickest. And for everybody's information conservatives are trying to change the state, but we are out numbered by a wide margin. And the lib's are to stupid to see the handwriting on the wall.

CA is slowly regulating itself into a state that regulates everything to the point of everyone moving out. The next big law they'll pass is "its illegal to breath in CA".

Can't have ICE cars, so everyone buys electric, but they over regulate the power company to the point that the power company can't improve their infrastructure to handle additional load. Then CA decides to shut down their cleanest power sources. Now they can't fight fires cuz "we're in a desert, so water shortage, etc" . Now you can't rebuild etc....

Maybe in 60 years it'll be an abondoned wasteland of bums and my children will be able to scoop large swathes of land for grazing and farming and there won't be any .gov left to intervene because its all no-mans land...

I have on occasion picked up items in Az.when I was there hunting. My son-in-law is picking up a gas lawn mower next weekend. Fock Ca.

I immediatley took offense at the title of this thread because I was sure that my state, WA, held the honors for being the stupidest state. After reading the posts here I guess I'll have to settle for 2nd after CA, but it's a close race.

No it’s a tie

People have been complaining about California going downhill as long as I’ve been alive. Something good must be happening there, some of our most conservative family kin have enjoyed it since migrating there during the dust bowl days, and few of them have been willing to move anywhere else, even after retiring. lol

Turn off NewsMax.

My church and neighborhood is full of Californians that have fled.

I guess I should also add that Washington is methodically making it harder and harder to purchase and own firearms. If they could do it quicker they would.

Yep. Fortunately I don't see any additional gun purchases other than maybe a muzzleloader.

Lots of truth in these posts. However to be fair, CA is one of if not the only state where you can get two truly OTC mule deer tags as a res or non res. That combined with excellent ocean fishing, freshwater fishing, waterfowl hunting, a growing elk herd, elite fall bear hunting (Hopefully spring soon) and large tracts of public land with good access, makes CA an underrated location for hunters and anglers. Gun laws there are obviously ridiculous and terrible

I wish they would turn it around so people would stop leaving. People leaving liberal hell holes is driving up real estate prices in other areas, among other things. My neighborhood is mainly people from out of state. Property taxes and home owners insurance keep going up.

yah, its not just ca though i believe colorado and new york have the same rules.
We do have really big elk here, and all three types of elk. But they are each once-in-a-lifetime tags unless you're very wealthy. I've called in several bulls for guys that have been drawn here.

The tag draw is not once in a lifetime. You are lucky if you draw more than one in a lifetime but I know multiple people who have, but there is nothing prohibiting drawing an elk tag again. I got my Roosevelt, now I want a tule elk.

you are not wrong. We literally have the best waterfowl hunting with the longest seasons and largest limits. Fishing is phenomenal, most years I kill two decent bucks (generally on public land). Within 1 hour of my house, right now today i can be steelhead fishing, striper fishing, pig hunting, fly fishing for amazing trout and bass. And the bluefin bite is just heating up.

I am a 5th generation Californio, My relatives migrated there during the gold rush. Used to be some great hunting and fishing there. I have probably taken 50 bucks in the High Sierras ( first one in 1952 when I was 12). I retired in 2000 and moved to Colorado, love it here, but it's slipping away like California did.
I played football and got my Engineering degree at USC. Worked on the Space Shuttle and the B-2 Stealth Bomber. I was back for a deer hunt in a D zone in the High Sierras in 2012 (where I had hunted for 50 years) and only saw one deer in a week! My dad drew the first permit in the first ever Tule Elk hunt in Independence. I was with him and watched him take a huge bull. I could go on, but my memories are what I have left from what I call the Glory Days.

I get that. There is no restrictions to getting it more than one time. It's just rare to get one bull tag, let alone a second one later.

That is one good thing about the points system here. There is always a chance for everyone.
