Cabelas card 10% sale question

I apologize if this is supposed to go in the gear deals forum. It is a question and not a gear deal per se, so I went with the general forum route.

Can anyone tell me how the Cabelas club credit card 10% off sales work? Do you have the use the credit card to buy the item or is the 10% off regardless of the payment method? I’ve heard multiple versions: the sales are for card members and you don’t have to use the credit card, you must use the card to get the discount, and a combination of the two. How often are the sales and are they at predictable times of the year? I’m trying to do the eBay gift card+ active junky+credit card 10% off. I don’t normally use credit cards, but in this case it makes sense for large Cabelas purchases and I’m trying to figure out if it is worth it. Thanks!

There is a thread in the optics forum about best place to buy Swarovski's. Someone said that they specifically did the Cabelas Gift Cards, active junky, and Cabelas visa to effectively get 40% off. Go look at that thread and see if you can IM the person who specifically said that. Speaking of personal experience, my buddy has a Visa Card and I believe that he has done the gift cards with Cabelas Visa and all you have to do to get the bonus is charge a little bit on the Visa, or just have that as the payment method even if you use all gift cards. I'm not sure which way it specifically was but I'm pretty sure that my buddy has used both gift card and visa offers a few different times.

I don't know if you saw the ebay thread today, but they have a coupon code: PICKDADSGIFT for 20% off everything (up to $100 off); expires 7pm PT. You would max out the deal with a $500 purchase. You can add multiple products to your cart and then use the code. I believe you can try using ebates 8% cashback on ebay too.

I didn’t see that, thanks! I signed up for the card, so I guess I will see how often they do the sales.

The sales vary from once to several times a month, but they usually send you an email and the 10% off code is good for that day only. For example last month they had the promotion every Tuesday for the month.
