Make sure you go to your account settings or call them and "turn-on" your cash back. It isn't automatic, and I learned the hard way after I stopped using a Cabelas card. Missed out on nine months of rewards because of not knowing and they wouldn't honor the back purchases for rewards. They (FNBO) were going to make it automatic, but I'm not sure if that ever happened.
Holy shit lol thanks for the heads up. I would have likely missed that. Other than that seems like a no brainer for me, that's easily a few hundred bucks a year.

Like some others, I go to Sportsman's Warehouse instead of Cabelas. Cheaper and more convenient for me. And, they don't try to get me to sign up for credit cards.

Closed my Cabela's card. Been my go-to hunting store my whole life. Ordering online, on sale, free shipping, no tax....no more. They have the same hunting curb appeal as Bass Pro now. End of an era.

I' m another one who use to shop the cave regularly, my wife also. Sad it's changed so much. I don't even check anymore like I used to. The quality of everything has gone downhill also. The whole reason I used to shop there was the deals you got on quality stuff and they carried everything you needed for western hunting. Bass pro carries none of it.
A New store was opened by some former Cabelas managers. They're just getting started but it's Highby outdoors.

Scheels is a great company, with Cabelas falling I could see Scheels expanding big time.

They focus on the right things:
-Amazing customer service
-Price match nearly everything
-Premium Brands
-Good visa card rewards
-Friendly knowledgeable employees

Agreed. My Scheels is top notch.

I think the decline of Cabela's is a huge opportunity for companies like Kuiu, Kennetek, Go Hunt and other specialist retailers. I left Cabela's years ago and never shopped at Bass Pro; The best products are web based and discovered by serious sportsman on forums like this.

This would be an awesome time for Gander Outdoors or Sportsman's Warehouse to really take the lead, i agree

gander outdoors is a joke, and I don't have a scheels or sportsmans close. cabelas doesn't carry anything in their store anymore that i'm interested in.

amazon is my outdoor store now.

The wife and I stopped at Cabela's today. What a change, and not for the better.

Probably won't be back.

Scheels gets us, and we spend real money.

You and me both. Cabelas used to be my store. Now I will drive the extra 30 minutes from St Joe to go to Scheels. Rogers has always had a piece of my heart for waterfowling.

I have yet to ever go to Rogers but Scheels is 2 mins from my work and I go there for way more then Cabela’s and only go to Bass Pro to take the kids to see Santa.

Was in Cabela’s for a few hours the other day with the kids, really it is a cool place for kids to explore, didn’t buy a thing. Went to the Bargain Cave and it was almost cleaned out, they said it’s being revamped with more current items.

I canceled my cabelas card and rarely shop there these days. There was a reason I didn't buy much from BP even when I lived a mile away from the very first outdoor world.

The people living in Springfield are lucking out though. Everyhthing once sold in all those bargain caves is now going to be in the BP outlet store.

Hmm might have to check that out next time I go through there.

I don’t really feel the need to spend my money at Cabelas or Bass Pro. The bargain cave was full of broken junk in my area though. That being said I can find almost anything for cheaper online or spend my dollars on a local mom and pop shop that has better customer service and is a small business.

Cabelas had the best customer service if any sporting goods store I’ve ever used. I sometimes paid a little more but their products were superior and the service was outstanding. Never any grief on returns, honor sales prices even after sales, almlways a person answering the phone for orders and credit card line.

I’m so over them now. Redhead gear is crap, service is terrible new credit card is serviced by capitol one in another state. I’m done.

Stopped in the KC store tonight. Cave was pure sadness. I'm left wondering what they did with all the stuff that was there. Maybe some employee only blowout sale.

They told me it was all old out of date items and they are getting ready to move in new stuff from other stores etc, we’ll see I guess.

I have gone in there a bunch and never bought a single thing. They had some Cabelas Euro HD 10x42’s in there for years, at some high price. Never wanted to deal on them.

Ya, the Mitchell, SD store Bargain Cave is gone. Some random racks of clearance clothes, but the sign was gone

I’ve seen a lot of bargain cave sadness, but can’t help thinking that if that’s where everyone was buying from Cabelas that there surely wasn’t much, if any, profit for Cabelas.

I haven’t seen a single post from anyone saying they were making purchases from Cabelas at full price.

I think that their prices being higher than the rest is what was/is going to be the cause of any demise that may happen, not the lost sales from the bargain cave.

I bought Plenty at full price from them however I would generally do so after driving an hour and a half to my closest store to check out the bargain cave. I haven’t been back in since they closed the bargain caves. I always used them as pitstops on road trips as well. I’d always look for one to stop and stretch my legs at and Check out the cave. No more....
