Most of you know this but just a heads up. I've recently tried to purchase a scope on Rokslide and some 12x50 EL's on longrangehunting (man that was a good deal). In both cases I was told "no paypal the bank will take the money, only postal money order. The scope (bino's) would be wrapped like fine chine(yes chine) in a large box filled with lots of Stryofoam.
A lot of us know and trust each other and use F&F at our own choice, if your not sure of the seller protect yourself. Dang it, I wanted those 12x50's.

I was recently shopping for the same EL's and saw the too good to be true prices. I steered clear and eventually found texasbinoman.com. He got me hooked up for $2,600 to my door.

No PayPal, the banks will take the money? What does that even mean?

I had a similar experience recently with a Christensen rifle on Armslist. It was a deal that seemed a little good to be true and the guy wouldn't meet and would only take money orders. Still want that rifle.

I think it’s a fair statement to say....do the research. Especially when getting in to high dollar items. Personally if I’m selling then I’d eat the fees. It protects both buyer and seller and if I’m confident in my items and shipping process there should be no issues. From a buyer standpoint I will always be ultra safe. If something seems off at all then I walk from the deal. All of my selling and buying had been on AT. But you do run into the same issues whatever site you use. It used to be that 99% of the people were trust worthy and over the years I think it’s dropped to 95%

I look at f/f like an envelope full of cash. Am I going to send it to a stranger? Nope. The only time I've done it was in a transaction with someone I've dealt with before, and even then it was a trade plus a little cash, and no p.p. payment w/o a tracking #.

Did you actually get burned/sent him the money order and you never got the product? Or are you suggesting that because he wants a money order, that he is shady and likely also a crook?

I didn’t pay any money, there were enough red flags to think something was fishy. I’ve sent money order but only to certain parties. The person involved here was banned today.

I dealt with a guy like that as well at MM for some Swaros--might have been the same dude. He was also 'no paypal' and he had very few posts at MM, He sent me to eBay for his feedback, which was scant if it was really his.
I asked him how he got paid at eBay which is virtually all Paypal these days, and he said he did use it in the past, but not lately.
I moved on, felt like his listing was a scam waitng to happen.
Smart move to move on, Terry.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm new to the forum, but have been burned in the past on other classifieds. I make sure to do my due diligence now. Sometimes it seems like overkill, but it's the sad truth of things.
