Buy list for next season

I just got a new Kifaru Hunter frame that I've been playing around with attaching my Exo bag to. It's worked out really well; my plan now is to sell my Exo setup and get an Exo 2000 and 5500 bag to attach to the Kifaru frame, all in Ranger Green. Other than that I'm pretty set this year. At some point I'll look into a larger floorless shelter with a stove and I'll likely pick up a .270 at some point but those aren't necessarily a need for this year.

Just starting out here, so some bigger ticket (to me) essential items I've yet to acquire.

1. Base and mid wool layers

2. GPS

3. Pack (I have a cheap day size pack with webbing and an old Gregory int. frame, so I might be good, but I'll watch Rockslide classifieds)

1. new boots (lowa or crispi)
2. Zeiss Conquest 10x42 binos
3. Delorme In reach

I am planning a move to BC this summer so that means no hunting season this fall (need 6 months before I am a resident) so I have a while to save up buy some new gear.

Keep your eyes open for sales. Last summer Cabela's had their Cabela's/Icebreaker branded merino SS shirts for $17.99 and LS for $21.99. I stocked up. Just checked yesterday and these same exact pieces are now listed at $69.99 and $84.99. That's ridiculous. They were either losing a bunch of money on these on sale, or they're WAYYYYY over-priced at full price.

My biggest thing is uninsulated, waterproof boots. I have some waterproof trail running shoes which work but I'd like more ankle support.

Everything after that is a "nice to have."

I've been on a rampage this off season.. Getting most of my gear on sale or buying slightly used here.. I just picked up a pair of Lowa renegades on Camofire for more than 50% off.. I feel like if you keep an eye out and don't need something "right now" you can find some crazy deals out there!
Other than tags this year, I'm set!

Good tips, I had to return something there yesterday, but didn't have much time. I'll have to keep an eye on the website.

Camofire has had their own brand of merino wool on their site frequently as of late. The prices are great for merino, no idea on durability or how they fit/feel but the prices are worth checking out if you are in the market.

Items that I have upgraded already:

1. New tent - Tarptent Stratospire 1
2. New sleeping pad - Nemo Tensor
3. New Rain gear - Kuiu Teton
4. New rangefinder - Leopold 1200
5. New Trekking poles
6. New Coolers - 3 Colemen 150qt Extreme
7. First Lite Halstead Fleece

Items that will be upgrading soon.

8. Pack -Exo 3500
9. Sleeping bag - Kifaru Slick bag 20º

All gear has been paid for or will be paid for, except for the rain gear which I got as a gift, by selling old gear and by selling off used electronics and electronic accessories that were being thrown out by businesses. In this case one mans trash is another mans backcountry hunting gear!

Glad to see I'm not the only gear addict here. . . I will be purchasing a Hilleberg Nammajt this year to go with the Tarra, Battle Mountain, Ultamid and Redcliff in the tent locker. . .

Hello, I'm Akicita and I'm a gearholic. . . It's been 3 days since I made my last gear purcahse. . .

a couple small items to get a second pack setup for the kid.
A kerosene heater for the wall tent
a pop up outhouse

We are outfitting about 4 kids this year for a wall tent hunt. I am sure we will find plenty to spend money on.

Swaro spotter

Duck boat w/ gator tail

Might need to take out a loan to get them though! :D

Don't know if you have tried "Backcountry Navigator", but since I got that my gps stays at home. All I bring now is my smart phone and a portable charger...

For me:

1) Dark Energy Poseidon (see above for reason)

2) material for a 20 degree down quilt

3) hoping to fit Maven B2 9x45's into the budget

4) solid brodhead co. 100 gr heads

5) outdoorsman mini-pan head

1. Vortex Viper 10X42s
2. Boots (thinking between the Lowa Tibets, Crispi Nevadas or Guides)
3. Puffy pants for glassing (Arcteryx Atoms or Mountain Hardwear compressors)

1. Montana elk & deer tag (first out-of-state hunt, wooo!)
2. Cold weather pants, haven't decided between Kuiu Guide or Sitka 90% or Timberline
3. AGC bino pouch

I already picked up a tipi and new boots... it never ends
