Hello, looking for a budget scope ($500) for western hunting. Would prefer a MOA scope with hash marks for hold over in case situation doesn't offer time to dial. Any recommendations appreciated.

FYI I just ordered a 3-9 Huron. I might be up for selling my old 2 5-10 Huron... need to think about it. They just seem to work. Adjusting is solid, they don't seem to lose zero.

99% of the replies you will get on here are going to be one of these:

The Trijicon Huron 3-9x40, which you can find on sale for under $500, generally.

Save more money and get a Trijicon Credo or Accu-point 3-9x40

Save more money and get a SWFA 3-9 if you can find one

Save even more money and get a Nightforce of some flavor or the Maven RS 1.2.

You forgot the SWFA 6x and 10x. 😁

Ive had good luck with vortex diamondback tacticals. The 4-16 ran well on a 300 PRC and now sits on a 7 PRC. Its the lightest scope vortex offers with a christmas tree reticle under 1500 bucks or so

Have a Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 on my savage axis 2 I know its not the best scope but it works pretty well for me.

Someone asked about the Venom 3-15. I have one on a mid to long range AR. I was surprised by the clarity and quality of the scope. It weighs a lot though. So do the larger Athlons. Do you have any weight concerns?

A Burris with the E3 reticle would be a good suggestion. The suggestion from CameraLand is trustworthy as well but I have never used an Element scope.

That's about right. We have three Hurons and a couple NF. For less expensive options id definitely look at the Huron and Ascent. They're solid.
