Budget rain jacket

I have a Marmot Precip Jacket. They often go on sale for 30-50% off. Packable and light for sure, but not what I would personally call quiet.

Frog toggs are cheap. Not really all that quiet but dont need to be when its raining.

Agree with the marmot option, i use the minimalist, and it is great. My wife has a couple from costco that are great as well. Paradox i think is the brand name.

Buy 3 ;) Sorry man sign up for their deal flyer as they routinely send email with 25-40% off stuff. ;)

I have the Marmot Stormwatch, which is similar to the precip but with welded zippers, etc. Regarding noise, if it's raining enough for me to wear the jacket, the rain is noisy enough to cover the sound.

Thanks guys. I ordered the marmot so I'll see how that works out. I'll check into the others to see if they have pants too.

Marmot offers a Precip line of pants as well, both in ankle zip, or full zip pants. Similar to the jacket, they can often be had for a great deal if you keep an eye out. They're definitely more for sitting and waiting out a storm then busting through any sort of bush though.

Got it in the mail today. They weren't wrong when they said they are lightweight and packable! Based on size reviews I ordered a small which is ok with a shirt underneath but I'm thinking a medium would be better.

I definitely agree with this on the Marmot Precip. I pack it when it looks like I will need it but even mild hiking with a pack and it gets humid in there.
