Interesting. I was looking at the 1-6 this morning.
What’s your thoughts on the 3-18? Thanks.

I haven’t had the chance to get my hands on a Gen 2 yet. In your opinion what’s the biggest differences between that and the Gen1?
No idea. Never got behind a gen 1. But have been eyeing them forever. Came with caps, shade, throw lever. Tolerances are tight. Had an Ares before and its pretty dang close in terms of clarity and tolerances.

I did a drop test on it and posted it in the scope eval thread. Can’t figure out how to link it from my phone. Needs official testing but it appears to be a decent option.

I’ll do another drop on it once weather allows. Just curious what kind of bearing it will take

I ended up buying two Arken EPL4's. Hunted with the first one on the kids Sig Cross. I liked it enough I bought a second for the 6 arc gasser.

They're no $2k scope. But for $350'ish off Amazon or less... they're pretty dang good! They're not as bright in low light obviously as high end glass. Not a deal breaker. It's clear, they seem to track good and the weight of the EPL4 is really good.

Last week I scored an Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 for $500 vs the original 950 before the gen 3's came out. I'm going to put it on the 10/22 as a trainer. Haven't really looked at it since it came. Played with the turrets and the illumination. Looks promising.

It seems we're in a time where you can get a decent functional scope well under $700.

My main gun will always have a premium scope. But the others I can't justify the cost.

SWFA 3-9x40 is FFP for $599
SWFA 3-15 Gen 2 is FFP for $749
Maven RS1.2 for $1200
Trijicon Tenmile 3-18 lightly used for $1,000-$1,200

My experience is limited but I have owned both the tenmile 3-18 and the lrhs 3-12… both are great options but I like the lrhs slightly more than the triji. I have heard that the RS1.2 is great too.
