Budget DIY 6.5 saum

Ya I bet, I ordered some 120 ttsx to run when I'm walking around, going to the range tomorrow for a bit. I'm trying to avoid getting a chrono. But you never know

Back from another uneventful trip to the range, looks like some seating depth adjustments should get me dialed on the 140 amax but only time will tell. Between a stiff cold breeze, coffee, plastic stock and a jackass pelting me with steel cases from his ar15 I wasn't shooting to well today. 140 hybrids shot nice and the scope is zeroed for them so I'll load up five and any unlucky pig Monday will be my test dummy

On a good note bumping the shoulder .003 gives great feeding

58.5 on the 140 amax shot great I will come back to this one if I can't find similar accuracy at a higher velocity

that's 5 shots of course I pulled number 5 as usual

haha, I was just at triple S today also. must have just missed you. All three of my new loads for two rifles shot like dog shit. Guess it's back to the old loads lol. Yea use Barnes for the big boars, I've seen them recovered from boars shot at near point black from a 30-06. Most other bullets splatter, barnes break bone and keep going, stopping just under the hide.

Got her dialed in on the amaxs and ttsx. The amax just needed some jump and they came to life .05 off the lands 61 grains of powder

. The 120 ttsx shoot 1" right at. 100 and maybe. 3/4" should be just fine for closer stuff

Got the opportunity to draw first bliod with the new stick yesterday, had to setup a little wierd off the top of my pack prone on a sidehill shooting basically straight uphill 290 yards. Dialed 3 moa and put the 140 amax right through both from shoulders. I couldn't be happier with the performance of the entire system. The amax out a beautiful 2" hole through and through with very little bloodshot and there was a tame enough recoil to see and hear the bullet crush the pig. He was a young boar and weighed 145 on a scale. This morning I went out again and was setting up on one at. 565 but he went into some cover and never came back out

. Pig was at the very top in that clearing and slid most of the way to where I was after dropping in his tracks

Got the opportunity to shoot a little last week and all seems well with a tamed down load of 60.5 so I loaded up the rest of my prepped brass this morning and rechecked everything for next weekends bear and rifle deer season opener. My manners still hasn't came but I am still happy as can be this thing shoots a 6" steel plate at 300 like shooting a can at 50 with a 22 it is great

I only have an archery tag so my girlfriend will be running this untill sept with her 2 deer and one bear tags and then we will get two more mule deer tags in Idaho the last week of October

With California's first rifle season opening Saturday we put the 6.5 to work this morning after a hectic weekend of fishing, she passed up a beautiful buck right at first light at 348 because she said it was too soon but we turned this guy up around noon down by the river bedded under some willows . We couldn't get any elevation to get a clear shot so we had to get very close and take him out of his bed. For the 45 yard shot she used a 120 ttsx at probably 3300 fps right through both shoulders and he didn't even move an inch

Tom manners called yesterday to say my stock was finished but I was going to have issues setting up the blind mag myself and offered to setup my magazine and bed the action free of charge so I stripped it of the factory stock this morning and sent her off. Crossing my fingers that it will be back together by sept 18ths rifle season opener

Well the budget in this build got blown but the rifle is pretty badass anyways here she is with the new stock. All feels great so far waiting on a call so I can go shoot up the road here and then I'll be out hunting Thursday. Total weight with the Caldwell bipod is 9# 2 oz. I got a new better looking barrel nut and plans to polish the action but haven't got to that yet

Looks amazing. I just about to strip and build a 6.5 of some type off a savage action.

I think I missed it but what make and conture is your barrel?

Results from today at 200, this was a 130 Berger vld, 61.8 was exactly the same the lower one was a flyer I wish I didn't have. I'm in a crunch for time not sure if I'll run this for my Idaho Miley hunt or try to adjust seating depth. Either way I will have to zero the scope and all should be well
