I get the adaptability of the cheekpiece/lop but besides that is there anything important in the latest Speeds vs the earlier ones? Worth hundreds more?

I've got a speed and long range. My long range basically has the same cheekpiece stock as the 2. I personally like the speed better. If I were going to get another Browning I'd buy the speed over the stock on the 2.

I'd try and shoulder both rifles. In my opinion, the speed swings and fits my shoulder better.
All hunting rifles boil down to one thing for me... Does it hit where you aim. If I have a rifle that's consistently showing tight groups then I'll customize everything else to what I like.
If the 2 is a tack driver then it would be worth it.

That's a cool perspective!

I have a chance to buy an unfired Speed for several hundy cheaper than an X-bolt 2 Speed. But youre right there's no substitute for handling both before

I’ve got a speed and have shot the speed 2. I prefer the original as to how it fit and handles. I think the 2 was consistently a little more accurate

I have an X Bolt 2, the trigger just breaks, it’s nice if you like a 3.5 pound trigger? I don’t and I found out the hard way that the X Bolt trigger spring doesn’t work in the X Bolt 2. The X Bolt 2 spring is lighter than the aftermarket X Bolt spring. I put a Timney in to get the pull weight down. The rifle shoots great.

Does the X-Bolt 1 trigger clean up well, with an aftermarket spring etc?

My experience with the springs on multiple rifles has been that it only lightens the pull weight. I can’t say anything about the X Bolt 1 as I don’t have one. From postings I’ve seen, a lot of guys seem to be happy with the upgrade.

I see what you guys mean on the trigger. Its got no creep, its a crisp breaker. Just heavy enough to make it unpredictable? The X-bolt II I just tried wasn't meaningfully better than a I. Everything else seems great

My groups shrank with the Timney but the Timney eliminates the bolt lock/3-position safety. It’s mostly that I’m used to 1.5-2 pound triggers, nothing on the rifles part. The JARD trigger keeps the function I believe? but I already had ordered the Timney.

My primary hunting rifles are Tikka’s but I do really like the X Bolt 2, it shoots great! Better than I can. The mag goes in and comes out easily and no misfeeds. 308 LR SPR

Gotcha! Not too sold on the bolt unlock button, even though its very cool just not a huge need to have for me so that helps!

Love the Tikka but have to say the X-bolts are better to me just on "I like it" feelings haha

Very minor differences. If you’re looking for some xbolts I have 2 I’m selling if you are interested. Nothing wrong with them. Just building a new rifle. Both are 6.5 PRC. Can message me if you like.
