Just placed order on a speed but then got notified that a mountain pro had just came in. Question, is the extra 1300$ worth it

Hard to say. It probably won't shoot much if any better right out of the box, but I do enjoy the feel of carbon fiber over polymer stocks. Also a directional brake vs radial will tame some recoil (how much really depends on cartridge selection). If you've got the money, it's got some good features, but by no means will it be double the rifle in my mind. You'd probably be better suited spending the $1300 on ammo and some targets to shoot, or upgrades glass for it, it'll have a more measurable effect.

I’m thinking the same thing, I already invested in the optic, I went with swaro z5. The rifle is chambered in .300wsm. The biggest reason why I’m questioning myself is a QC issue, I received the speed today and had a bedding issue, but they have an exact replacement with proper bedding and mag fitment! Hence the mountain pro also being brought up. ( I do own an x bolt pro tungsten in .308 and I love it) just don’t know if I can drop another 1300 on an already 3800-4k set up

I have owned a Hells Canyon Speed for many years. Although, I don't have experience with the Mountain Pro, I can say I have had great success with my speed in a 300 wm. But after years of use I have opted for a rifle with a shorter barrel.
IMO, it boils down to what you want and will be happy with.81273.jpg

I have shot and hunted with a HC long range in 6.5 CM for a few years now and love it.

I just picked up a mountain pro in .300 PRCa couple weeks ago and plan to shoot it here soon. I’ll let you know what I think. I put a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42 on it and it still weighs less than my 6.5. Slightly worried about recoil but it does have the big Recoil Hawg brake on it

I’ll bet you’re gonna love it! I have an x bolt pro tungsten in 308 and it’s my favourite rifle!

Shot my Mtn Pro this past weekend. It shot the 212 grain ELDx very well. My 3 shot group was right around 1 MOA at 200 (outlined in red) and then I took one shot at 380 yards at an 8 inch rock and hit it almost dead center. Love the rifle so far, and even in the bigger caliber it’s lighter than my HC in 6.5 IMG_2643.jpegIMG_2652.jpegIMG_2653.jpegIMG_2654.jpeg

There's not $1300 worth of accuracy in the Pro over a standard X-Bolt, unless having that stainless underneath the Cerakote is worth it or the carbon fiber stock, the Speed will serve you well.

I have a mountain pro and I like it but as mentioned it’s not worth the extra $$$$ in a lot of ways.

If you keep a close eye on Gunbroker you can snag some deals on these mountain pros. I picked mine up for $1700 on a no reserve auction.

That being said, HC speed is an outstanding rifle as well

I have the HC speed chambered in 300wm. The gun shoots sub moa out of the box with factory ammo. I can’t see myself spending the extra $1300 on a MT pro.
