looking for input on the best option for bombproof scope mounts on a browning OG x-bolt 7PRC. What would you do? what would you avoid doing? New scope is a maven rs 1.2

I concur. Leopold Backcountry rings are machined from 7075 aluminum and have 4 bolt scope ring caps, which is as secure as it gets. No added rail interface and bolts to loosen, and no extra rail weight.Leupold one piece Backcountry mounts. Rails always seem to put the scope too high. Your Maven should be long enough to allow mounting for eye relief.
I had a bunch of Talley LW's in service years back. Had this top strap break and had a set break where the threads for the top strap are. Not saying they haven't given good service to some; however, I am saying that there's much better options these days.If I had your rifle, I would probably put Talley lightweight rings. I would also consider any other rings that bolt directly to the receiver such as DNZ or Leupold backcountry. I have three x-bolt pros; all with Talley. I looked at using the rail on my X-bolt pro long range but place the scope too high and there’s no adjustable cheek riser on the carbon fiber stock.
