Browning x-bolt Max SPR

I haven't had a chance to hit the range yet with it. I swapped the trigger spring and adjusted it to 2lbs. The McMillan Hunters Edge stock I ordered back in May arrived yesterday, so I bedded the action and bottom metal and will tear it down when I get home Sunday. Hopefully the Warne bases will be here then and I can get it all tied up and hit the range.

Rifle in the new stock was 6.3lbs even with the 24" barrel. The McMillan came in at 23.3oz, well under the 29oz they told me when I ordered it.

I have 156gr Bergers, 140gr Partions, 140gr Accubonds or 143gr Bondstrikes, so hopefully one of them will work. It come in at or under 8lbs scoped. Should be an easy toter.

Heavy, 39ozs heavy, rigid, adjusted easily enough, no flex in the forend and typical soft Inflex recoil pad. I am not a fan of the hot glue bedding Browning uses. I usually set up the barrel wrapped in tape to keep the action in the correct place and remove the old bedding and rebed with Devcon. I have had 2 where the bedding actually came out of the stock stuck to the action.

Browning does a good job with their injection molded stocks, they are generally just heavy.

Glad to hear its solid. I can deal with it being a little heavy since i shouldnt be packing it far. Id like to hear how it performs once you get it to the range

I did the same thing, but in 300Win. Hoping it comes in quick enough to apply for the rebate. After reading into it, the last day to apply is the 19th.

That seems like a pretty cool option. i've never fondled one in that config but I like my stainless stalker xbolt.

I wonder if that fore end is as flexible as the sporter stock.. that's a good price.

My Max LR stock is very firm... almost as stiff as my two carbon fiber stocks.

The stock that comes with the Max LR is one of, if not the most comfortable stock I have ever been behind, but they are a bit heavy if you hike miles in the mountains.

I'm looking at a .300 Win in this one. Browning said it has a 1:8 twist like the PRC. Wondering how that will play out in the SAAMI chamber with 22" barrel. Both .300s are a good half pound heavier than even the 7 PRC and closer to 3/4 lb or so vs short actions. Basically 8 pounds. (7lb 14oz officially) I'd need to shoot big heavy bullets at more modest velocity looks like.

That seems like a great price to me. It looks like same stock as the X Bolt Long Range Max, just a shorter barrel.

I’ve been very content with the stock it comes with. I also think the trigger, upgraded with an M Carbo spring is great. I put a Timney in mine, but will be selling it.
