I had no problems with a pass thru with the 150gr 4 blade version from a 76lb recurve and 750gr total arrow weight.

Chuckled at the howitzarrow you blasted through beast ;-)
I'm going heavier arrows and higher FOC every year.

This year I'm changing things up and going with either these ones in a 125gr: G5 Montec Fixed Blade Broadhead

Or these ones in a 125gr if we can get them in stock: Solid Broadheads Legend w/ 1/2" Bleeder Blade

I've shot hogs with montecs (close range, tree stand to feeder) and they were great. But You have to sharpen them a lot. And for me, past 50 yards they don't shoot well.

I've also shot hogs and deer with Solids, out past 60-70 yards, and they sail true. That is my most accurate and consistent fixed Broadhead and the bleeders give pretty damn good blood trails if you don't hit the top of the animals thorax. But then again, nothing does in that scenario.

Im mainly focusing on deer but will have a elk tag too. I think i have decided to just carry 4 of the new rage hypo +P and one WacEm 4 blade. If my shot on a elk is under 40 yards ill probably grab the fixed blade. If it is over 40 yards or its windy I will probably just shoot the rage. Ive shot quite a few critters with mechanicals without any issue and i really like the look of the new 1.5" head

Giving the Toxics a try this year. Been impressed with how they fly. Seems like they grouped better than my Muzzy Trocars did. Surprised me a little. Looks like they will be devastating and really be effective on those less than perfect shots. Plus they get really great reviews overall.

Where you hunting? They are illegal in Colorado. Not to mention the penetration is horrible with them.

In Wyoming. Horrible? How did you get those results? From the tests I've seen, the penetration has been fine. Not to mention the wound channel. Where are you finding that they are illegal in Colorado? I haven't seen that.

In Colorado the blade has to be strait in the same plane no curved blades or anything.

As far as test what kind of a test are you looking at. Ballistic gel isn't a representation of how a broadhead will actually work. With gel the arrow is stopped by friction. So the bigger cut or more blades a broadhead has the better penetration will show in gel. The reason is it is opening up a bigger hole that lets the arrow penetrate farther before the gel grabs the shaft of the arrow.

I have talked to and seen pics from a lot of people who have shot pigs with them. Blades usually end up bent or broken from what I've seen and usually never a pass through.

I guess to each his own. From the people I've talked to they loved them, and left massive blood trails. Not talking about ballistic gel. Have you shot them before? I looked online and saw some of the pig issues you are talking about. Just doesn't match what I've heard from people. Guess time will tell. Where is the link you are finding the Colorado info on? All I find is the mechanical broadhead being addressed. Want to make sure I am not missing anything else.
