Broadhead for elk

They seem ok but I don't think they have out long enough to really know. This might be only the second year they have been getting used. I carry a mechanical in my quiver for longer shots, but will choose my fixed blade for anything in my normal comfort zone.

I am looking to find the best broad head for elk hunting. I know the internet will swear by iron will's and I have nothing against that I just don't want to spend over a $100 bucks for 3 broadheads. I was looking into the G5 montec but there is so many mixed reviews. Anyone have any real experience with the G5 montec? Or the G5 montec m3? Is the m3 less accurate due to lack of vents like the original montec? Primarily looking into those two but what are your favorite/more cheaper broadheads for elk hunting? (Primarily looking for fixed blade as well) Thanks in advance.
I've killed four bulls with the standard Slick Trick 125grn. They fly well and penetrate. 2 shots were pass-throughs and 2 shots penetrated up to the vanes.

I would shoot a beast at an elk. But I can't think of a broadhead currently made I wouldn't given the right circumstances.

There is no "best broadhead" everything is a tradeoff. An sub 20 yard frontal or hard quartered too in tight quarters is a different shot than 50+ yard broadside side hill and below you in the open but threading a needle, with equipment that has had the snot kicked out of it for the past 10 days on a backcountry hunt. If I can I will have both options and select the option that should perform the best in a given situation.

Hoyt Rx8- 70lbs
447 grain arrow
26.5in draw length
I'd shoot a decent sized fixed blade. Everything is a tradeoff, the downsides of a mechancial on elk start to outweigh the benefits at your specs.

Just shoot good 100-125 grain 3 blade broadhead. Exodus 125 Swept, Contact MD3, Terra Firma Gladius, Cutthroat 3b 100, OzCut 3b 100, VPA Solid 3b 100. And way more to list.

For longer follow up shots I'd use a smaller mechanical or a B3 Destrukt 3b. Or a Rad 3b LPS.

Didn’t read all the pages so this may have been suggested, but look at the RMS gear cutthroat 3 blades.

Compact, easy to sharpen, fly well, and extremely durable. Not the cheapest but far from the most expensive also.
