Leaving in a couple weeks…

Work has me spending 17 days in Brisbane, Australia, traveling to Christchurch New Zealand for the tail end of the trip. I’ll have some time in the evenings and weekends to get out and explore.

What are some interesting things to check out during winter time, for an outdoor enthusiast. Obviously the skiing/snowboarding is supposed to be really good in NZ. Would prefer some hikes or wildlife to check out. Willing to send my backpack as an extra carry on and spend a night or two out somewhere in the mountains.

Pretty cool, I work for a heavy civil contractor.

I have no idea what the season is in New Zealand, but I'd be trying to hunt something there.

City of Brisbane operates a water taxi on the Brisbane River. It’s a cheap and nice way to see the city in the evenings.

I’ve heard of hunting close to Brisbane. Believe it is high fence for pigs and a variety of deer species and likely more.

Drive a couple hours into the mountains south of Christchurch and kill a tahr.

Or at least drive from CC to Queenstown and enjoy the scenery in between. Go check out Mt Cook area.
