Any hardcore striped bass fly fishermen here? That’s a trip that’s on my radar sooner than later. I’ve never fished the west coast other than some ponds in New Hampshire like 25 years ago.

A guy that was the commercial seafood buyer at the Port of Garibaldi used to come to Montana and hunt with my dad 25 years ago. I think his name was Dave maybe? He'd drive his jacked up diesel Ford crew cab out with a fish tote full of shaved ice with hopes of bringing it back full of deer and elk. They always went home with some game but did more partying than hunting. Good people.

I usually fish out of Depoe Bay or Newport but have gone out of Brookings, Coos Bay, and Winchester Bay before. My dad fished out of Garibaldi a bunch back in the late 70's and a few times from 2005 to 2020 while he lived in Oregon until he passed. I wouldn't mind trying a new port.
