I was thinking New Zealand until I scrolled down and saw the other species

@The Guide is correct out of California.

The New Zealand variety are significantly larger

The Kenai is on fire this year for Sockeyes. And these are just myself, wife, and son caught on rod & reel. Dip netting is an entire another story. Think we will make another trip on Monday or Tuesday before we try for Silvers at Valdez or Ship Creek.

That’s some of the funnest fishing I’ve done. When I fished reds on the Kenai a couple years ago, I used the same hooks I do for fishing Chinook down here. I’ve never had a Nooker straighten one of those hooks but it happened twice with sockeye. Great eating too.
