26 Sockeye salmon to add to the 24 that we netted yesterday, and we’re good for another year.

A Dolly Varden trout in spawning coloration, typical for this time of year (Edit: I caught the one pictured the first week in Sept)...I'll soon be flying back in August for the fifth year to my favorite Alaska river for a DIY hundred-mile fly-fishing float.

What a wild week on the Kenai. Over 700,000 sockeye hit the river over the last 6 days. We leave this week for 5 days of fishing down there and were only planning on making that one trip this year. But, when we checked numbers last Thursday my wife talked me into going down for the weekend so we loaded up and within a couple of hours were on the road. Glad we did. World class sockeye fishing right now. Now to work a few days and turn around for a repeat!

Pretty good fight for 5-10 minutes then they run out of steam but definitely a good time, caught 4 or 5 that day in the same size range.
