"Boy, I say boy, pay close attention to me“

Just seen this thread. Never gets old reading about others hunts and seeing the pics. That leg into the antler trick hopefully gets put to use this November.

Dang,

I genuinely get jealous of people who’s fathers are/were actual role models lol.

I know my step dad did make some sacrifices to take me deer hunting.

But I was never allowed to go elk hunting as it was “only for men” and to tough for even teenagers.

Congrats to the both of you.

Entrance hole - Slick Trick

He got lucky with that one! I've lost 3 bulls with a similar shot at much closer distances than 30yrds and a 73lb bow, one was with a slick trick and 440gr arrow at 18 yards. I'm glad to see that he didn't have to experience that and I hope he knows how lucky he is that the arrow made it through.

Hopefully my boys will get into hunting more when they are older. They both really loved it when they were younger and were with me all the time. They were calling when I killed a 315" bull, they both got to watch me kill it and my oldest filmed it with his phone, they were 11 & 14 at the time. They're 16 & 19 now and are more into sports, girls and life at the moment, still hunting this fall but no archery.

My oldest has killed a could 4 point bucks with his bow and both have killed a pile with a rifle.

Thanks for all the replies guys….

Now, who would like a ‘Guess the Score’ thread on the bull?

I taped him out today
Fathers understand that all the real trophies in life are the ones your children earn. Realizing life isn’t “about ME” and my accomplishments was the most important life lesson I have learned. The real purpose of achieving great things as a man is just to show your children by example how to persevere to achieve their own dreams. I see my childless friends struggle to find meaning in life because they can’t find their purpose. Kids give all the meaning and purpose to life for me. Everything we achieve in life dies with us except for what we pass on to our children. When I see a man who has achieved great success (like celebrities or the ultra wealthy) but his kids have no respect for him, I just think “ wow, he really missed the point”.

Since you asked about score, I’m guessing that bull is in the neighborhood of 340, let’s say 338… regardless of the inches, that’s a beautiful bull and a REAL trophy! Congratulations to you and your son ! 🏆

Thanks - You are pretty close!

A couple weeks ago I started a thread for the score...
