I have thought about it, but considering that I’m buying for myself and my daughter it’s a really high price point that’s out of my budget at the moment lol

I have a sentimental love for Bowtech because I killed my first two deer with one. I currently own a Vertix and love it. I like to bounce around between Mathews, Hoyt, and Bowtech every few years because I think while they're all damn good bows, a manufacturer will usually put out a bow that just feels better than everything else every few years. We are spoiled when it comes to archery.

Keep in mind that you don't always need to buy the flagship bow in a given lineup. To this day, no bow has been more accurate for me than the Bowtech Tomkat, and that was one of their "budget" models. I still regret selling it.

That I do know that a $1000 item is worthless if the person can’t shoot. It won’t make you a better archer by any means.

Man, from the title of this post I was hoping for a meme thread…

Im a bowtech user as of 2020. My top cam needs replaced and Ive been waiting on it for a year… thats bowtech customer servixe for you apparently - or could be my dealer... but ive called to follow up multiple times and they just keep saying BT tells them long lead time.

Bow is nice though.

In my opinion with you just starting out you should go with the new bow - the Bowtech. Not only does it have the warranty but your bow shop will help you see it through and help you tune it. I have all of the mentioned bow brands and they are all good, but stick with one your shop will help you with since you currently don't have a press or other tools to work with. Unless you know the owners real well you won't get that kind of service buying used.

Well, if there was one overwhelming good aspect to starting to shoot during the pandemic mid-last year, it’s that nothing new was available in my size. Thus I had no choice but to go used. Coupled with a 31.5DL, my choices of bow were rather limited.

Do I personally regret I didn’t get to try a lot of different bows? Nah. Why’s that? Because I had plenty of “reviews” (opinions) to research here and elsewhere. Throw in YouTube, and it was easy to know a Mathews Traverse was what would probably best suit me used. My Conquest 4 (which I bought to start with until I got the Traverse) was also a good pick. Again, it was all about DL & used availability at the time.

For the OP, I’d just say it appears most bow technology is so good nowadays that you should not agonize too much over your final choice. Try to follow my example of online opinions to narrow stuff down, then YouTube to confirm it. (Especially “shoot off” videos). In the end you’ll probably be just fine with what you choose.

BTW, I alternate between my two bows just for the feel. Probably prefer the Traverse.

Then…. Just wait until you get into releases!

This is 20 yds and the third time using my Scott Ascent (love that release!) after coming off a wrist index release. Maybe 70-80 arrows total to get somewhat used to it.

Oh yeah, those little shooting stickers and scrap cardboard are far cheaper than targets!

All I know is that I have two friends that ordered Bowtech bows early last year (like March) . One never did receive his and the other canceled and bought another brand after hunting season.. Based on that, get the Mathews.

I wanted to try a Mathews last year, been 10 years since I had one. I love Bowtech but none came in my draw length that had the new technology/nor were any in stock - they only had the BT Mag that fit me (32"DL). The Atlas was right up my alley and I shoot it good. Ordered that bow in June and it arrived in July from my local bowshop (350 miles away!). Screaming Eagle archery in Wasilla knew that delivery was an issue so he ordered a bunch of bows real early in the year. I guess I lucked out, cuz I barely made it in time between the new bow, arrows and only a month to get thing dialed in before the sheep opener of August 10th.

Looking at getting into archery so of course need to get new to me equipment. I’ve been going to archery shops and seeing and doing research. An archery shop in the area has two bows I’ve really come to like

1. Bowtech Amplify (New)
2. Matthews (Used, can’t remember the model)

They’re both the same price and come with everything set up and ready to shoot. Which would be the better option? I know it will probably be whichever I feel shoots better but out of personal use which would be recommended.

As everyone else has said. Shoot them. Shoot as many as possible. This isn’t something someone else can pick for you. Im a Mathews guy. But that’s just what feels best for me.
