Hello everyone. I just purchased a 2006 Bowtech Allegiance as a backup bow to my other backup bow. I have always wanted an Allegiance and have heard they are still one of Bowtech's all time best bows. I have searched until I'm cross eyed and most threads are very old. Wanted to reach out to the brain trust and get some feedback from the pros.

The 2006 Allegiance I bought was described to me as a 2008. I was originally after the 2008 model for the updated cams and grips. The seller is responsive, but before I do anything, I'd like to be more informed. From my research, some people regard the 2006 as the best year for the Allegiance with the heavier riser and thicker grip and some say the 2008 is the best year with the updated black cams and invelvet finish. Without personally having shot either, what is the general opinion of the different year models?

Thanks in advance.

Still my main bow today. And every bow shop looks at me like I've never hunted before because of it. Awesome bows. I would take the 06 over the 08

Loved my 06 , had an 07 as well , really got to nit pick between the two as to which one is better , boils down to which grip you like better , I agree tho , best hunting bows I have had

2006 was a great all around lineup for Bowtech. If they had made the Allegiance in my draw length, I would have had one back then and would still have it today. Instead I got the 2006 Old Glory that goes out to 32"+ draw length, and I still have it. But all the 2006's were similar in regards to shootability, tuning, etc. Great bows.

You have the bow I wanted more than the allegiance. I settled for the allegiance when I had a Darton with cracked limbs two weeks before the season and my shop said they couldn't get the Old Glory in time for the opener.

I’ve got a set of twin 2007 hanging in my basement. I originally had a 06 hunted with it for 4-5 seasons. Traded it off. Then picked up an 07 in 16 and just this year swapped to a Realm X. One of my buddies shot the other 07 and between the 2 we killed 8-10 bucks, 3 truckloads of does and more pigs than you can shake a stick at. One of my favorite bows of all time and the only reason I swapped is because I wanted something else to play with. The allegiance will still get to head to the tree this season.

The 2006 Allie is a shooter!!! Wish I still owned one. I'm still holding on to my 2005 Liberty because I killed my first bear with it.

In the off season I use gatoraid to lube mine just because of all the work it puts in. Just kidding. They are awesome bows and still shoot as good as anything on the market today.

My Old Glory has been my backup for the past few years, but I've been shooting it quite a bit lately and I'm thinking about using it some this season. I love that large thick grip.......zero hand torque whatsoever, it just sits there and left and rights are nonexistent.
