So I have a Bowtech Assassin that I've noticed some slight peeling on one of the limbs (which is gonna force my hand on a new Hoyt next week, but that's another story), my cousin is telling me it is because I store my bow in my garage and not in the house and the heat caused it. I live in Boise so we get some high temps, but can it really be that hot in my garage?

Do you guys keep your bows in the house or the garage/shop?

Second question, after I get this all sorted I'm gonna end up with 2 bows, so I would like to take a spare to leave at the truck just in case. So, is heat a concern during early season hunts, I'd obviously have to leave it in my truck...

I guess what I'm asking, how hot is TOO hot to where a guy has to worry about ruining his bow?

I store mine in the house. In the basement where it's cool. It depends how hot your garage gets. Inside a vehicle in the September Sun is to hot even for a few hours. I go back and forth on the backup bow in the early season....I have never needed one and for me it's not worth risking damaging it or having it stolen from a vehicle.

The strings/cables are the most vulnerable to heat exposure and direct sun exposure.

I store mine in the house but travel a lot to other states and have to leave it in the car. I've not had any problems leaving it in the skb double with a heavy wool blanket on top of it laying on the back seat. Often my luggage is on top of it also. I mainly try and avoid direct sun and try and park where it'll maximise the shade. I do try and avoid leaving it in the car but often move hotels every day or couple days. I also installed a loop on the floor board to cable the case to the car so no one can just smash and grab it. Not perfect but helps keep me shooting

A friend used to run an archery shop in Phoenix, AZ and he saw a number of limb delaminations each year. Usually the client would claim ignorance as to what happened and nervously make the comment the bow wasn't left in the car.

I've for sure never left mine in my car. But have stored for a little over a year in the garage.

Looks like the new bow will be a house queen!

Mine only leaves the garage to go hunting or get worked on in the basement. I wouldn't leave it in a car.
