Bow out of spec? Elite Answer 2013

Had my draw weight measured at a local shop, 65.8 lbs. Limbs are fully tight, supposedly 70#. I also measured my ATA which is 1/8" longer than it should be (33.5 is spec) and brace is 1/8" short of spec (6 7/8").

Should I add twists to the cables? I'm thinking this would shorten the ATA and increase the brace closer to spec and likely increase my draw weight back closer to 70#. My draw length is 28.5 so I'm wanting every pound of draw weight I can find before I start tuning more precisely.

I'm working from home with limited equipment but just wanting to make sure my thinking is correct.

Doesn't sound like it can get to 70 pounds. You can add twist to cables for that 1/8 inch on BH and ATA but you'll still be shy of 70 I think. Sometimes limbs are a little less than advertised. Hoyt's usually get 2 to 3 pounds more. Mathews are usually dead on from my experience. Not familiar with Elite's to know. I would call Elite and talk to them about it.

That's kind of what I was wondering. Want to make sure that I've got my end tuned up well before contacting elite.

Well, crap, just realized I put this in the wrong subforum. Meant to put it in Archery.

If a Mod sees this, please feel free to move it to Archery. Thanks.

Still the stock strings I'm assuming? Elites run hot on their poundages (usually 3-5 over). The limbs are fine, your stings/cables are not.

I'm with BackcountryMT...my 70# Elite is at 72#. Probably strings stretched, my archery shop wont even tune a bow till its been shot ~200 times.

I'm going to create another thread in Archery to figure out what to do with the cables/strings. Sorry to clog the Elk forum.
