I have a friend who reached out to me about their 5 year old son and his obsession with archery. Im curious if there are any options out there other than a toy bow for a child at that age and size? He's about 4 ft tall and weighs 40 lbs, I told her i didnt know if there was any other option that just a toy bow. Any input from you guys is greatly appreciated!

It's a bit pricey, but I like the Genesis. That's what I started all 3 of my kids on. It will last him until he's ready for a "real bow", because you can crank up the draw weight up to 20 pounds, and because there's no let off, he can use it even until he grows to adult size.

Diamond atomic is what I got my son because of the adjustability. Kind of lame that it doesn't come with a peep though.

I bought a Diamond Atomic for my son when he was 5. Passed it down to his sister and now it’s being passed down to the littlest sister. She has been shooting her big sisters Stalker recurve but it’s time to mover her up.

Mass weight of the bow is the most important consideration for a small child. They simply aren't very strong and have trouble keeping the bow steady. I would recommend a DIamond Atomic. Lighter than the Genesis so easier for a small child. Don't need a press to adust. Can literally turn the draw weight down and unstring it with very little effort. IMO the Genesis is a better second bow.
