I have not hunted 3rd rifle, but I've hunted 2nd, and in 22 years, I've never seen an archery hunter.

Why would you? Just get a September tag? Felon?

I'd rather hunt 4th anyway.
Compound bows are considered a weapon under Colorado laws. Felons can't use them.
Some of the tags are easier to draw during the rifle seasons. Also, just really enjoy bow hunting.

Seems like a really good way to frustrate yourself but I’m sure you could try, you still have to wear hunter orange. I know a guy tried to bowhunt 44 4th rifle a year or so ago… the rifle came out after day 3, and he was a bow hunting purist. But to each their own, good luck

OP Do it!

I haven’t, but I have been in bow range a couple different rifle seasons. I’ve seen plenty of sparring during rifle seasons and last fall’s bull just finished mounting a cow before I shot it. All opportunities for a bow hunter depending on what the rest of the herd does. Let’s be honest, I don’t rifle hunt like I bow hunt because I know I can be sloppy with a rifle and still harvest.

You can only try and have more fun doing it.

My bad, I was thinking elk

I always thought they should have a mule deer rut hunt for archery. 4th rifle would be your best bet, but your going to burn some points.
