I like looking at an actual map so I'm thinking of printing some out for the couple areas I have in mind. I think they would be a great thing to have.

Shooting some 2 arrow groups tonight. The bow still needs fine tuned but I'm liking it more everyday. Shooting a Nitrum turbo now. I'd like to tighten this up a little at 60 and then shoot out to 80+ for practice.

I totally agree with hike2hunt.

If you really have an area nailed down do yourself a favor and order the USGS 7.5x7.5 maps. They're sort of spendy and you have to carry several but they are simply the best maps ever created by man! I love being able to sit at home and put spots on the map in the GPS and vice-versa when in the field. I also really like the Gazateers for serious map wigging and leaving in the truck.

I'm not sure if you've gotten in an overnight hike yet but that's the best way to finalize you're gear or find out what does and does not work for you.

We went on an over night trip in March, I'd like to do another though.

Yesterday I got up early and drove a couple hours to meet my hunting partner and we went hiking in the hills of southern ohio. I had about 57lbs between pack and Bino harness. Did almost 7 miles in 3.5 hours and that was with bushwacking over a mile back to the truck. Lol. Legs feel fine today, but the outsides of my hip bones are tender from the belt. I'm guessing that's just something I'm gonna have to get use to hauling a little heavier weight.

Put 80lbs in the pack and walked a couple miles last night. Its going to suck packing out a elk if we are lucky enough to kill one. The weight is really noticeable but my legs feel fine today.

Ive been shooting the bow and getting broad heads to fly better and better.

Ordered a lot of the smaller things i needed. Still need to get a Delormie ordered pretty soon.

Im trying to find time to find more backup spots. Have a lot to do on the planning part still, which really worries me.

Did another 3 miles with 50 lbs last night in the little hills we have around home. We are going to try and do at least 2 hikes a week from now til when we leave.

All the stuff i ordered should be here mid week next week so after that i should be set on 95% of my gear.

Im going to get back to pouring over google earth and find some more possible spots.

Got my TAG bags, Petzl light(awesome), leukotape and a couple other small items yesterday. Still waiting for some stuff from campsaver to show up. Im ready to start organizing my stuff and figuring out how to load it in the pack.

My shooting is coming along pretty good. Broadheads were shooting good at 40 yards the other day, need to move back and shoot 60 with them.

Got another box of goodies(I love gear!) yesterday. Steripen, tenacious tape, pull outs, small light weight towel and aquamira drops. My gear list is about taken care of besides a Delormie.

Broadheads are grouping nicely at 60 now.

I need to really focus on upping my hiking and jogging this last month. My partner is down 10 lbs in the last few weeks, so that's good for him.

I think I will have to hang some tree stands for our upcoming whitetail season this weekend. We have been getting a couple nice bucks on camera and since I will be gone for our opener my wife wants to make sure she has an opportunity to kill one of them before I get home. Lol

Have you thought about calling the wildlife biologist about the area you're planning on hunting? Another great resource if you are planning on hunting a new spot/state. I did that last year when we went to Montana and really helped.

Yes, i need to make some phone calls asap!!

Ended up buying a Copper Spur 2 tent and selling my Nemo tent. This tent was a little more money but offered me some more room and is a tad lighter as well. Plus it comes highly recommended from guys on here.

Ive been shooting broadheads and field points at 60-80 yards lately. I feel like I am in really good shape if the Elk is within 50 yards, and am confident in a follow up shot within 75 right now.

I ordered a Delorme Inreach today, that should take care of keeping the wives happy.

Starting to really think about food and would like to have a plan for that set in stone within a couple weeks.

Definitely starting to feel the pressure of all this coming together quickly. I feel like im a few months behind. lol

Still getting some exercise in and shooting the bow.

Really trying to get my food nailed down in the next week. I have about 5 mountain house meals and 5 heathers choice meals right now. Really want to try dehydrating a couple meals to break up the routine, but its hard to find time. Have a bunch of snacks already and should be making some jerky soon for the trip.

Im starting to get a little nervous/pumped about this!! Cant wait!
