So I had my first 2 oz pour last night of the soft red wheat rickhouse proof.
My inital thoughts.

Man what a nose. Do I even need to drink it or can I just smell it all night.
Toasted / burnt cherry reduction and vanilla.
or cherry, barrel char and vanilla if you perfer that description thinhorn.

Palate. yea. Its a wheater. Better then most. But still had that wheater taste that I dont favor. Can I just go back to smelling it?

Finish was nice.

Overall its in the top 3 wheaters I have had.

Now I wait for the 1856 8 yr review. That mash bill does not have any wheat.

Here are the ones I have. I’m going to open the one on the right tonight and see what I think.

The unopened tater portion of my collection. The JDSBBP bottles on the right are the best in the collection, from a pure taste perspective. The particular 1792 full proof hiding in the back is a close second. The JD Rye is the best bottle here, and I’m not a rye guy generally speaking. The fact that the rye is $70 on almost any decent shelf is mind blowing.
