Bourbon

Yea it was all that single barrel pot still stuff. Some bourbon some rye. I would like to try it but commiting to a 400-600 bottle is tough for something I'm not familar with. Ive had plenty of opputunities at the 8 year black bottle purple top. maybe next time I try one. The only willett rye I had was a 4 year old and tastes like burning tires. It was awful.
The rye I had was fine. On part with every other $40 bottle out there.

Just way more expensive. Lol

If memory serves me correctly its all single barrel and while thats sexy marketing some single barrels need to be mixed because they suck. Single barrel doesnt always mean good. Henry Mckenna is proof of that.

I think you're right.

Good lord is it.

I've had some that were great... And some that compared favorably with Old Crow.

When we were barrel picking last week we had a clear 2 that were our least favorites. Together they were pretty good. It's crazy really.

I had one of my friends come over today and blind some bourbon

15yr old seelbachs buff turkey
13th century R24 blend
George T Stagg 2023

That was also the finishing order. I did cure his fomo for GTS, But gave him FOMO for 2 other things. One that is gone and buff turkey is running out.

Been following this thread since its inception…. Hard to find anything special up here but I do my best. Anyhow, saw this one after someone mentioned it and it’s pretty good! Especially good while enjoying it in the middles of nowhere.

GTS is good. If you find it at retail.

I haven't had the first 2.

But it's funny, after you've had a certain amount of rare/hard to find stuff it's like you still want to try new stuff, but the FOMO goes away.

Yea. I would buy another GTS at MSRP but not one cent more. IMO it was priced right from Buff Trace for a supposed 15yr for 200-300.

I still get FOMO but I get it about random things. Like ben holladay soft red wheat......

Pick up one of the Ben Holladay 8Yr Seelbach picks if they are still available.

At the TAC event in Red Lodge last year, I was sitting in the campground sipping a bourbon and a stranger walked by and we chatted for a minute about what I was drinking...A few minutes later he returned with one of these and INSISTED he pour me one!
I was reasonably impressed.
I'm not crazy about the price but it's a pretty good pour.

I bought both, and gave one to a friend. We have not opened either one , but I have tried 3 other ones and they all were great. Per the master distiller at BH he says the best barrels come from floor 4. So considering that I'd grab the 123.9 proof one which is from the 4th floor.
