Bourbon

Is that stuff pretty good? I was recently given a bottle of Eagle rare and another bottle of Elmer Lee or something by a friend.

I don’t know why he gave me those, I hardly drink so it’s sort of a waste to stack them on a cupboard so they can collect dust.
Eagle Rare is good stuff at retail pricing…I wouldn’t “collect” the standard 10-yr bottle. At retail, it’s cheap enough to drink every day.

Love this thread, and love bourbon but want to temporarily hijack the thread.

I’m a bourbon enthusiast and love the hunt to add bottles to my collection. I have a pretty robust collection, maybe moderate compared to some. If I purchase it, it’s always to drink, and not to flip, albeit some aren’t cracked and are only saved for special occasions.

Having said that, I’ve always been one to purchase to drink and against all flippers. However, my mindset has slightly shifted. I have some great high dollar bottles unopened and am contemplating flipping them. I have plenty of opened bottles, high dollar opened bottles, and still plan to hunt for others to add to the collection. If I were to sell off a portion of my high dollar bottles, it would generate a pretty decent some of money. If I do that, I plan to use the funds towards a sheep hunt, specifically dall, which is my dream hunt and would make that hefty price tag much easier to stomach.

So my question to you guys is: should I keep my collection in tact and enjoy, or sell off a portion and go sheep hunting? What say the Rokslide/bourbon side of the Rokslide universe?
Sell!

I ran across a bottle of Caribou Crossing recently and just had to try it. That was quite the let down IMO.

I have been getting Eagle Rare 10 yr for $40-$50 quite consistently in my part of the country.

Has anyone tried Eage Rare 12 yr?

I haven’t personally but was just told by a friend that knows a lot more than me that it’s great.

Some of the eagle rare 10 year store picks are 12 years old. If you can find one you can look up the stats on it and is an easier way to try a "12 year"

Agree on the Caribou…neat stopper but very lackluster. Haven’t found any ER12 for under $150 amd I’m not at all interested in paying that.

Same on the ER12. I just havent felt FOMO about that one. Im sure it marginally better for more money. The store picks where I shop are pretty amazing and personal pan pizza size.

Michter's Unblended American (the blue label). Sweet and smooth for $40. I'd like to think the expensive bottles are better, but my mouth doesn't prove that out.
