Hey guys,

Looking for some advice on boots for my Spring Bear in Idaho in 2021. Been looking at average temps during spring and cant decide if I need non-insualted boots or insulated. And if insulated how much insulation needed? 400g 800g or 1200g? My feet do tend do get cold a little quicker than the average Joe. I'd rather have hot feet over cold feet. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of bear hunting... I have never been colder than sitting on a windy bear bait after an April rainstorm.

Uninsulated. I tend to be colder than most but rarely wear my 400g insulated boots boots for bear. Some cool times but in average not too bad, especially if you will be active on the hunt.

I've been going end of May first of June for several years and wear either running shoes or uninsulated boots.

I'll echo others, obviously there are variables involved but I've been wearing salomon speed cross trail runners and have been more than comfortable. I am the opposite though, just in socks my feet sweat and I hate it, so breathability is key for me. I'd go uninsolated and wear heavy socks.

UnInsulated.

There's no way you should go with 1200. Holy smokes. You would roast.

Unless you are sitting at a bait or glassing from the same spot all day (and don’t have to hike to get there), I would wear my uninsulated Zamberlan boots with merino wool socks.
