Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place.

I really recommend the book Beast in The Garden. It's a great read and very relevant to the times we are living in.

What are some of your favorite books that are outdoor oriented ?

Three very different, but great books. I love reading while on stand. Whenever its quiet and I pull out a book, it always seems to guarantee some action! I read these this season. A Look At Life From the Deer Stand by Steve Chapman. Good Hunting by Theodore Roosevelt. American Buffalo by Steve Rinella.

I hope more people chime in. Great idea for a thread...

I really liked American Buffalo

Great stuff so far. Snowbound looks good. I never thought of bringing a book on stand. Something would come in for sure once I got enmeshed in a a book ! Haha

I read Snowbound last weekend. Great book, and especially interesting if you live or hunt in central Idaho. It’s a true story from 1893 of hunters who got snowed in while hunting up the Lochsa.
I have fished and hunted there. My parents lived on the clearwater, great country. Caught some fish on a 4wt that gave me a tough time on the Selway !

That's a good book, and the three volume Meateater American History series is also great. I listened to all three as audiobooks. Fascinating and detailed books about the Long Hunters, the Mountain Men, and the Hide Hunters. You learn a lot about how America was "settled," for lack of a better term.

I've read this book about 20 times since last year, but you guys will have to wait until it's actually published toward the end of March ;-) :

Currently in the middle of The Mighty Nimrod. It’s a biography of F.C. Selous. Very well researched and organized.

Great book! I've actually recommended it here before. Another similar book is Old Mose, King of the Grizzlies. It documents the search by hunters and ranchers trying to track down the legendary Colorado Grizzly around the turn of the Century. Fyi copies are not easy to find, it took me awhile to track one down.

I just ordered Water dog, to work with my lab for next duck season. It’s pretty cool seeing her get better
