I’m taking a red eye into Boise this fall and was looking for a close place to camp since I’ll be running on fumes. I see BLM land in the around but I was wondering if anyone knows an area where they have personally camped. Preferably somewhere I won’t get shanked! Thanks!

Its Boise man,
Don't think you'll get shanked unless you're wearing matching camo and they know your NR

Idaho has very Large and nice rest areas,
The airport parking lot will definitely be safe.
Cabelas lot probably wouldn't be bad.

I'm sure if you just burn a ways towards your unit you'll find something.

I lived a week at the Graham ranger station in the 80s. Pretty good gold in the top 5 ft. East of Boise. The pass could be pretty snowy at the wrong time of the year.

If you drive I84 east toward mountain home, then take the black creek road exit to the east, there is BLM there that would work. That would be about 25 minutes from the airport.

Yeah, it’s pretty open once you head out south of the airport. There is a decent rest area not far along this route.

Thanks for the advice, I have been hunting in Idaho for a few years but always went straight to where I plan to hunt. The limiting factor is having to pick up the items you can’t fly with (stove fuel, lighters, etc) and I doubt I can find those items landing at midnight. Gonna have to camp and pick them up in the morning in town.
