First things first, I'm not a frame or backpack officianado. I've always had smaller day packs such as from Badlands and one Eberlestock in the past. I am a type 1 diabetic so my main focus has been carrying food and diabetic supplies along with a kill kit. I ordered a KUIU Venture Divide 2000 for some reason thinking I had seen where it had a meat shelf, which it does not so not it's up for sale.
So now I am looking for something I can use as a day pack, but has the ability to carry a quarter out first trip out. I increasingly find myself far enough from the truck that a trip back to get a basic pack frame is time consuming. So I am looking for a pack/system that I can use for 1/2 to full day jaunts, carry enough supplies to cover my diabetic needs, maybe an emergency overnight, but most importantly, be able to get that first haul out.
I've looked at the MR Pop Up 30 in person and the Eberlestock Mainframe, can't find the Modframe locally, and recently I saw the BOG Inception frame and Helix 3500 bag. It looked like a quality setup and felt good on, without any load. I know BOG isn't a backpack company but wanted to see if anyone knows anything or might make a recommendation for someone that is likely never going to do any back country hunting. Budget is also a consideration as I'm not prepared to spend $600 for something used once or twice a year.
Thanks!
